Once you step into the Haymarket by Scandic hotel in Stockholm you get the feeling that you have been transported right into The Great Gatsby movie. The whole design of the hotel is inspired by the 1920s era of optimism and elegance and even the music that is played in the lobby picks up on the vibe.
The Haymarket by Scandic hotel is conveniently located by Drottninggatan, a major pedestrian street, so that it only takes you about a minute to get to some of the coolest Scandinavian clothing stores such as Weekday, Monki, Rut & Circle etc. The closest subway station Hötroget is also only 4 minutes by foot. Right outside the hotel is a big market place, where little stands sell flowers, vegetable and fruits.
The breakfast buffet
My personal opinion about a hotel is strongly shaped by its breakfast selection, since I am the biggest breakfast lover. The breakfast at the Haymarket really convinced me. First of all, they have a large gluten free & lactose free section. I got to pick between soy milk, rice milk and different flavored oat yoghurts every morning- a choice that I am usually not spoilt with at most hotel breakfasts. Additionally, I was really surprised by the quality of the fruit at the buffet. The oranges and pineapple tasted very delicious and fresh, which again is very unusual for a breakfast buffet in a colder country.
Café and bar
One of the highlights of the hotel is its cute little café Gretas, which with the pink interior and palm leaves is truly an Instagrammer’s dream come true. One rainy afternoon we sat down there, had some ginger lemon tea and ate one of their raw, vegan cakes- super cozy!
Apart from the café their cocktail bar Americain is also very popular. Whenever we walked past it on our way to the room it was buzzing.
We really enjoyed our stay at The Haymarket. This is a very unique and cool design hotel in an ideal location to explore the beautiful city Stockholm.
