La Residence Franschhoek Hotel

Even though I have spent 5 summers in Cape Town, I have never been to Franschhoek until this year. My first thought when we drove there was: Why haven’t I visited this place before? Alone the breath taking view you get in the car driving to Franschhoek is worth the 1,5 hour trip from Cape Town. Nestled amidst the vineyards at the foothills of the Franschhoek mountains, you will find La Residence, the luxury boutique hotel that we stayed at.

When you arrive at the property it feels like you have stepped into a real life fairy tale. We were welcomed with wine and flowers and we felt comfortable from the minute we arrived at La Residence. The boutique hotel’s décor is very romantic and the view over the mountains is incomparable. The room we stayed at had a bathroom bigger than the size of most hotel rooms and from our private terrace we could admire the lush green nature whilst enjoying a glass of wine.

After waking up to the sound of nature, we started our day at La Residence with breakfast, which had us spoilt for choice. You can either pick from the beautifully arranged breakfast buffet or order from the menu (which includes vegan options!).

We were very luckily with the weather, so we spent the day by the pool which, like the rest of the property, trumps with its stunning view. My favourite part: The infinity pool overlooking the vineyards.

Even though we only spent one night at La Residence it felt more like a mini vacation. The mixture of lush nature, fresh air, romantic décor and delicious food left us relaxed, rejuvenated and very sad to leave.
