Around one week ago Julia and I packed our bags again to head out for another adventure around Asia. Our first stop: Thailand. We had the best start to our trip, since we got to spend our first two nights in Bangkok at the Peninsula Hotel. Located right by the Chao Phraya river it is one of the city’s most exclusive hotels. Our stay there was truly unique and I enjoyed every second of it. Continue reading to see for yourself and to read my full hotel review of the The Peninsula Bangkok Hotel.
We stayed in a Deluxe room, which was an absolute dream. The view over Bangkok and the river was definitely the most remarkable part of it. We also felt welcome right away, thanks to the super cute, personalized welcome card and the fresh tropical fruit that was put into our room to snack on. I loved the very classic design of the room and the hotel in general.
After we checked in and took a nap, we headed straight to the pool to soak up some sunshine. The pool is located right next to the river, so again the view is very unique for Bangkok. The staff at the pool is super friendly, so they kept bringing us cold water to cool down and around lunch time they offered everyone some freshly cut fruit as a little snack.
Each morning we got to enjoy the breakfast buffet at The Peninsula, which was one the best hotel breakfasts I have ever experienced. I think it was the huge choice of fresh fruit that won me over. They even had freshly cut mango (I LOVE mango!) and jackfruit, which I tried for the first time. Apart from that they offer a huge selection of other foods to suit everyone’s taste. I personally also loved their “healthy selection“, which included gluten-free bread, almond milk porridge and other healthy options.
The Peninsula Hotel is the first hotel in Thailand to offer a Tiffany-themed afternoon tea. I am a big fan of good tea, thus this very classy event hit the spot. Whilst a band was playing classical live music in the background I got to sip on my green tea and enjoy the atmosphere. A truly original and unique experience.
The river boats are iconic for Bangkok. The Peninsula Hotel has their own private boat, which you can take to get to two of the available drop off points along the river. It is very convenient and a boat ride along the Chao Phraya river is a must when you are in Bangkok.
Spa & Gym
The Spa at the Peninsula got voted the best Spa in Asia in 2015 according to Travel & Leisure. We got a little tour around the beautiful spa facilities, where everything was kept in a Thai style and even by just walking through it, the relaxing atmosphere was apparent. Unfortunately we did not have time to try out one of their spa treatments, however we did get to use their gym. The gym was well equipped and our short workouts there were ideal to cure our jetlag.
I think what truly made our stay at The Peninsula memorable and exclusive were the little details. After we would come back from breakfast our beds would be neatly made and a new selection of fruits or sweets would be placed into our room. When we would return to the room around lunch time there would be a beautiful bouquet of flowers on the desk and during dinner time someone would come to put our slippers by our bed and a water bottle next to it, ready for night time. The service was just absolutely incredible and made us feel very welcome.
Staying at the Peninsula Hotel in Bangkok was a very unique and exclusive experience and we enjoyed every second of it!
Thank you so much for having us.
