If you have been following my Bali adventures on Instagram and Snapchat (both is @joliejanine) you probably already saw that Julia and I had the pleasure of collaborating with some amazing hotels on the island. One of them was the W retreat & Spa in Seminyak, which was definitely the hippest and most modern place we stayed at.
Young & Modern Vibe
Last year I already got to stay at the W Hotel in Bankok (read about it here) so I was really excited to stay at another W Hotel. Of course, the W Retreat in Bali did not disappoint.
What makes the W Hotels so unique is their design and vibe which is super young and modern.
Room with a view
We were lucky since we got to stay in an ocean view room, meaning we were able to overlook the pool and the ocean from our balcony and at night we heard the waves break, which in my opinion is one of the most relaxing sounds there is.
I loved the gym at the W retreat, since all of their equipment was up to date and they had lots of different fitness devices- even a punchbag for boxing!
If you are not a gym person they also offer Yoga and other workout classes, which are a great option if you want to stay active during your holiday.
Healthy, vegan food options
If you have been following me for some time you probably already know how excited I get about healthy food. Yes, a green juice excites me far more than a coffee for example. At the W retreat they had lots of healthy food options. At breakfast you were able to order customized juices, smoothies and even a wheatgrass shot (!!). Apart from that they had a large buffet with lots of fruit, home made granola (yes, please!) and many other options to suit everyone’s taste.
During day they also offered lots of healthy snacks and fresh juices at the fuel bar in the lobby.
Somehow the things that make a hotel stay the most memorable are the little details. At the W retreat for example they had a member of their staff come around the pool to offer a free sunglass cleaning service, which was amazing, since my sunnies are always dirty!
Furthermore, they had a DVD rental where you were able to order movies to your room. Julia and I got really excited about it, since we had wanted to have a DVD night for ages!
The Woo Bar
Even if you are not staying at the W retreat you have to visit their WOO Bar whilst you are on Bali. Last year Julia and I used to go to Potato Head Beach club regularly, which turned out to be right next to the Woo Bar. The music is really good there, they have amazing drinks and the crowd is young and cool. Moreover, the location is ideal to watch the sunset and the sunsets in Bali are just out of this world.
